The Finn and Fram Laboratory SMC Machine is a compact Machine made for development of SMC compounds and for low-volume production.
While it does not have many of the controls and features needed in full production machines, it can be used to make small volumes of any of the SMC formulations in common use. It takes up very little space, it can be operated by one or two people, and it is priced for a laboratory budget. So, it can be used for product development without requiring or tying up expensive production equipment and personnel. Also, its small scale is Thelpful for keeping the technology of the products being developed proprietary. We have made two of these laboratory models for academic and research institutions.
The Finn and Fram Laboratory SMC Machine has the basic components of production SMC Machines.
That is, two single-roll film payout stations, two precision doctor blade assemblies, a fiber cutter that can be used for fiberglass, carbon, and other brittle fibers, a 17-processing- roller 2-zone, dual-wire-mesh belt compaction module and a single-spindle winder. Additional optional features are a cloth payout, continuous fiber feed, and heated doctor blades and compaction module. Product width is 12″ (300 mm) or 24* (600 mm), and maximum production speed is 20 ft/min (6 m/min).
We are also happy to design and make custom modifications for customer special needs, where we can make a positive contribution.
